Clare Ardern, PT, PhD

Dr Clare Ardern is a physiotherapist and clinical researcher addressing questions around return to play after injury. She completed her PhD on return to play after ACL reconstruction in Australia in 2013, and since then has worked as a clinical researcher at the Aspetar Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital (Qatar) and Linköping University (Sweden). Clare was part of an international team that wrote the 2016 Consensus Statement on Return to Play – a statement that is endorsed by the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy. She also has an interest in the psychological aspect of returning to play and how the return to play transition can be improved with specific clinical interventions and superior clinical decision making. Clare is part of an international team that is developing an internet-based intervention to help athletes return to sport after ACL injury.
